The Bluecoat Vision Centre will now be open Tuesday-Thursday 10:00-2:00pm offering a large range of low vision aids.

Chester: Write Time Write Place at Storyhouse

Have you ever wanted to create your own stories and discover your inner writer? Well now you can by signing up to our FREE 8 week creative writing course.

‘Write Time Write Place’ starts on Monday 30th October 10-11.30am The one and half hour sessions will focus on inspiration, characterization, settings and plotting stories as well as revising and editing. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to have their work published in a special ‘Write Time Write Place ‘ anthology. Participants can also take part in an event at Storyhouse, for World Book Day 2018.

Frodsham: What’s Cooking

“What’s Cooking” is a community club in which  people of all ages are welcome and which will focus on the social aspects of cooking, eating and enjoying food. Frodsham: New Horizons

New Horizons is a free service, initially covering the Frodsham area, for people (over 50) who are having difficulty for whatever reason and aren’t easily able to join in with community activities without a practical and individualized support service. Hartford: Ellesmere Port, and Chester: Men in Sheds

Age UK Cheshire’s Men in Sheds project is for older men who may be feeling isolated due to bereavement, depression, redundancy or retirement and are looking to meet new people, enjoy a bit of camaraderie and learn and share new skills.  The sheds run in Hartford, and Ellesmere Port (Mon – Thurs, 10am-4pm), and Chester (Tues – Fri 10am-4pm)

Hartford and District: Lip Reading Group

Are you hard of hearing and find you miss out on conversations with your friends and family? We have a solution! Come along to our fun, friendly and social classes and learn how to lipread. We have great tips on how to make communication easier and put end your feelings of isolation and help you to regain your confidence. Malpas: Art Group Taster

Northwich: Contact the Elderly Tea Party Group

A Contact group is kept small, 6 to 10 members, so that everyone can chat to everyone else. Each month on a Sunday afternoon, rain or shine, a driver will collect the members and take us for a little drive to where we are made welcome and have tea. There is a lot of talk and laughter during tea and somebody will tell us what they have been doing since our last meeting.

Northwich: Senior Moments

Senior Moments are a group who meet on Tuesdays in term time at 13.30 until 14.45 (unless it is a special) at Emmanuel Church, Old Hall Road, Leftwich. We welcome any one in their senior years. It is an opportunity to meet, chat, make friends and enjoy a varied programme, that offers something for everyone. Each week we have drinks, home made cakes and ‘Thought for the week’ to round off our time together. It is free. Here is the schedule:

If you’re coming along on your own or maybe feeling a bit nervous about your first visit, come in between 10.30am-12.30pm and ask for Jackie Brown (Brightlife Coordinator) or Ange Hamlett-Orme (Brightlife Volunteer). They’re always happy to chat and will be able to talk to you about some of the other activities taking place in and around Winsford that you might also enjoy. Winsford and Tilston: Share Club

The Community Compass Share Club will match you with a local volunteer who is wanting to give their time to help their community. That may be a weekly visit and delivery of free FareShare groceries, delivery of a healthy home cooked meal or a regular phone call. By signing up as a member of the Share Club you will also be invited to a monthly day out where you will meet new friends, can participate in a range of activities, enjoy a hot lunch and go home with something for your tea. Free transport is also available on request.

Winsford: The Winsford Education Partnership Staff Choir and Friends

The Winsford based choir are looking to for new recruits! They are a very friendly amateur adult choir – no auditions, you don’t need to be able to read music. They rehearse 4:30-5:30pm on Thursdays in term time at the Oaklands School.
