Bright Memories

Do you look after someone who is living with dementia? Are you living with dementia yourself? Cheshire and Warrington Carers Trust are working alongside Age UK Cheshire and the Alzeimer’s Society to have a positive impact upon the lives of people with dementia and their carers. Day Care Services (Age UK Cheshire) – A wide range of activities will be on offer that combine mental, physical and social stimulation, including arts and crafts, reminiscence therapy, quizzes, falls prevention, music and movement, and trips out. For more information contact

Side by Side (Alzheimer’s Society) – Side by Side supports people with dementia to remain active, be independent and stay involved in their community. For more information call 0300 222 1122.

Art Activities (Carers Trust Cheshire and Warrington) – Arts workshops, cultural trips and exhibitions that inspire learning and creativity, encourage friendships and fun conversations.

Bright Stars

A mentoring project where women over 50 are paired up with women who need extra support. This is an intergenerational project, helping women who still have their mothering instinct, mentor the less fortunate. They will regain their shine and be reconnected to a new community, where they can find their confidence in their own skills and provide guidance to mothers who do not have a support network.

Buddying and Befriending Scheme

Cheshire Community Development Trust are looking for Buddies and Befrienders to volunteer for a couple of hours per week to help those over 50 become more involved in their local communities.

Volunteer Coordinators will offer full support and training, and the opportunity to get involved in regular social activities. All out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

Community Compass Share Club

The Community Compass Share Club will match you with a local volunteer who is wanting to give their time to help their community. That may be a weekly visit and delivery of free FareShare groceries, delivery of a healthy home cooked meal or a regular phone call. By signing up as a member of the Share Club you will also be invited to a monthly day out where you will meet new friends, can participate in a range of activities, enjoy a hot lunch and go home with something for your tea. Free transport is also available on request.

The Chatterbox Café (Food, drink + friendly company)

Tea and Chat

The Winsford Education Partnership Staff Choir and Friends

The Winsford based choir are looking for new recruits! They are a very friendly amateur adult choir – no auditions, you don’t need to be able to read music. They rehearse 4:30 – 5:30pm on Thursdays in term time at the Oaklands School. They generally meet in the staff room 15 – 30 minutes earlier where tea, coffee and cake are provided.

Dementia Walk. Whitegate Way, Winsford, 10:00am MONDAYS

Every Monday morning we run a group walk for people affected by dementia. Meet at Whitegate station car park.
These walks are designed to provide individuals living with the condition and there carers an opportunity to relax, socialise and enjoy the natural environment in a calm and friendly environment.
Followed by refreshments in the cafe.

Silver Rainbows – Social Network for LGBT people

The Silver Rainbows programme has provided and continues to provide special events for older LGBT+ people, their families, carers and allies including country walking, tea dances, social groups (“Tea and Tattle”), archive and reminisance project and lead to the formation of the Proud Mary’s LGBT+ Choir based in Chester.
