How we are supporting our communities

The Brightlife Team is working closely with our lead body Age UK Cheshire on an integrated approach to responding to Covid-19.

Together we have set up a Community Response Team that covers four geographical areas across Cheshire. The Community Response Team has established a single point of contact telephone line to provide support for older people with:

· urgent food requests

· prescription collection

· telephone befriending

Supporting our Service users

Our team of Social Prescribers is supporting the Community Response Team as well as telephoning past and present participants to offer advice and support. We are still accepting new referrals on a telephone support basis through our Social Prescribing Manager who is triaging incoming enquiries and referrals to Brightlife. If you require one-to-one support, please call Brightlife (between the hours of 9am-5pm) on 07736 168351.

Chris McClelland, Head of Brightlife wants to reassure older residents that new support systems are in place and adapting daily to respond to the specific needs of individuals. He comments,

“The voluntary sector in Cheshire has been quick to respond to the challenges of Covid-19, with key organisations working in partnership across the borough to deliver a coordinated approach. Brightlife is working hard to support older people during this time and the creation of a dedicated Community Response Team has allowed us to respond swiftly to the wide range of enquiries we have received. Whilst we cannot anticipate the demands that will be made upon this service over coming weeks, we hope will be able to help people feel safe, connected and less emotionally isolated during this period of physical isolation.”

If you need practical or emotional support, please call 01606 881 660 and we will put you in touch with someone who can help you.

Stay at home.

Together we will get through this.
