The Reel Connections project was funded as part of Brightlife’s ‘Brighter Ideas’ strand. This fund encouraged local groups, voluntary organisations and businesses to come forward with ideas to reduce isolation and loneliness for older people within areas or communities of interest.
Reel Connections drew on the experience of the “Read and Connect” project. It will provided performance-based activities, primarily films, to a target group of socially isolated over 50s. Participants had long-term disabling conditions or had a caring role. Sessions involved visits to the cinema/theatre with additional social opportunities.
Reel Connections was delivered by The Neuromuscular Centre, CCIL & C&WCC with an award of £4,000.
